I'm not a Comcast employee but I think you're trying to accomplish a "NAS" type situation, I don't think you can "adapt" that to a Gateway, I too had a router with USB capability running a "Samba" server, since going to XB7, I will have to try something else, perhaps map a "network drive" and keep it on a PC ...Comcast’s biggest pitch for the xFi Advanced Gateway is that it can handle traffic at faster-than-gigabit speeds (the company brands this as “Supersonic” Wi-Fi, which is a slightly silly name).Xfinity xFi is designed to work with one active xFi Gateway per account.
